Plane No. 6 SK4
A medium-sized plane ideal for grinding and joining medium-sized workpieces. The plane's 72 mm body width provides a large support surface, significantly reducing the chance of accidental tipping over while planing.
The development of these planes is based on Herdim planes. They have been making them for decades for luthiers, who place a high value on extreme precision and perfect workmanship. The solid, stress-relieving annealed cast steel* planes with finely lapped soles and right-angle ground cheeks are as much a sign of quality as the blades, which are a minimum of 3 mm thick and made of SK4 steel (61 HRC). The easy-to-adjust planer feed allows for simple corrections, while the ergonomic, hard-workmanship-designed grips and polished fins fit comfortably in the hand. Handles made of local red beech wood.
