Carpenter's plane No. 5

The increased length and weight compared to the No. 4 plane makes it ideal not only for smoothing but also for levelling surfaces.

The development of these planes is based on Herdim planes. They have been making them for decades for luthiers, who place great value on extreme precision and perfect workmanship. The solid, stress-relieving annealed cast steel planes* with finely lapped soles and right-angle ground cheeks are as much a sign of quality as the blades, which are at least 3 mm thick and made of SK4 steel (61 HRC). The easy-to-adjust planer feed allows for simple corrections, while the ergonomic, tried-and-true grips and polished fins fit comfortably in the hand. Handles made of local red beech wood.
