Flat plate with balance plates

The HAPFO BALANCER flat plate (made in Germany) is a face plate with integrated adjustable balancing discs and thus enables significantly higher speeds, especially when processing unbalanced wet wood blanks. It is also suitable for smaller machines that would otherwise only allow very low speeds without the BALANCER due to the low weight of the machine.

Bolt the blank to the flat plate as usual, then mount it on the spindle and allow the blank to swing down with the heavier half due to its own imbalance. Then loosen the two screws on the balance discs and rotate them up in opposite directions until they are nearly balanced. Secure the balance discs with the screws and you're done.

The basic body of the front plate is made of gray cast iron and, thanks to its excellent sliding properties, allows the balance discs to rotate easily on the front plate. In addition, thanks to the cast iron body, the integrity of the lathe spindle thread is also guaranteed. This is a huge advantage, especially with heavy discs, compared to steel or aluminum discs, which occasionally tend to seize on the spindle threads. The two balance discs can be rotated back to the "zero" position quickly and easily using a detent on the face plate.
